Story Arc(s):    Add/remove story arcs to this issue

Now at the end of this theoretical "second five-year mission", the Enterprise is returning to port on Earth. En route, they receive a distress call from the training vessel, U.S.S. Yorktown. Aliens have atacked the Yorktown. When Enterprise arrives on scene, these aliens abduct Kirk, Spock, and McCoy, too. Telepathic, the aliens communicate through Spock, who learns they aren't so much aggressors as they are desperate. Kirk and crew find a way to help the aliens before returning to Earth.

Thereafter, Kirk is forced to take a good, hard look at his Starfleet career when he departs Enterprise for what he thinks is the final time as its commander.
