Aldaran must discover why a rebellion that he was once a part of but helped to dissolve is mysteriously resurfacing in the highlands of Shidima. But in doing so, he risks exposing himself to the very people he betrayed to the empire three years ago. Meanwhile, Hakara and Mitsuro, two of the most dangerous swordsmen in Shidima, are hot on the trail of the same mystery, but what will they do when the trail leads them into a head on collision with Aldaran?
