The story opens with Ben relaxing in the Baxter Building reading Conan comics when he is interrupted by Johnny Storm asking that the two of them take his new LT1 ‘Vette out for a spin. After a short tussle the two agree to go to McDonald’s for burgers. While out they encounter a man riding through the streets of New York on a horse. The man’s name is Norman and he has a list of four things he must do before turning 30 much to dismay of his fiancé Deena. The Thing and the Human Torch end up encountering Norman all over New York as he tries to fulfill his dreams, causing trouble everywhere he goes. At one point Norman acting as a firefighter nearly drops man to his death fighting a blaze in the World Trade Center.
