Like all long-running TV Comic televised companions, Sarah's departure after this issue is never explained. She's just "not there' anymore. However, an interesting aspect of her departure is that her final words involve her asking the Doctor to take her on a nice, long holiday. This is interesting in light of the fact that Sarah's main role at the beginning of most TVC adventures is to coax the Doctor off his holidays and into the action of the new adventure.
