One-time warrior Ando forces his young grandson Dagar to hide as they watch the forces of evil overlord Scorpio destroy their nation-state of Tulgonia, killing every citizen within it. Ando trains Dagar to become an expert fighter, telling him one day he will be the last Tulgonian and must avenge the death of his people by finding and destroying Scorpio. Upon Ando's death, Dagar begins his search for Scorpio but is delayed when he decides to help an aged mage free his daughter Arranna from the clutches of evil sorcerer Ostellon. Armed with a magical mace and chain, he approaches Ostellon's fortress, the Castle of the Skull.
