Archangel hears Psylocke in a pitch battle inside their Manhattan apartment but he can not get in to help. She holds her own against Undercloaks, demons from the Crimson Dawn dimension, while Warren races to the roof and crashes through the skylight. He finds her calmly sitting as if nothing happened. Gomurr appears warning them that they still have a price to pay for the Crimson Dawn's help in saving Psylocke's life.

Storm and Candra watch the Shadow King gloat over his possession of the Jamil and Candra's stolen heart-stone. Storm attacks the villain first with a freezing blizzard encasing the telepath's puppet in a block of ice. Candra focuses her attention on retrieving her lost ruby while Storm works to free Karima. Both are stunned to see Juggernaut burst free of the ice prison. He injures Candra in the escape and disappears while chasing Storm and Karima.

Both the X-Man and the X-Ternal believe Jamil is using the powerful gem to transform himself into the villains they encountered, yet they continue to fight each other. When Cable suddenly appears and offers Storm help, Ororo realizes something is amiss. Jamil could not have conjured up the different images since he has no knowledge of the people being mimicked. She concludes that Karima is the real culprit and instructs her to stop.

Cyclops, Wolverine and Phoenix are several blocks away searching for their teammate. Jean turns a corner and finds herself alone -- no Logan, no Scott, and no living sole on the normally busy streets. As quickly as it started, everything returns to normal. Wolverine notes that something is wrong with her but helping Storm takes immediate priority.

In the museum, Storm learns the truth from a teary eyed Karima. The young mutant simply followed the instructions she received from her (and Storm's) mentor, Achmed El-Gibar. The Egyptian master thief devised the clever way to hide Karimas powers. Jamil, a manifestation of Karima's own desire for companionship, was also influenced by Candra's desire to find her jewel.

Candra strikes once more. Storm believes her teammates are nearby to help her, so she tosses the jewel towards the immortal as a stalling tactic. Cyclops's optic beam destroys the heart-stone before Candra can catch it. With the life-force carrying gem destroyed Candra perishes and vanishes away. Ororo leaves to take Karima home.

Meanwhile in Hong Kong, Sebastian Shaw returns with a plot to retake control of the Hellfire Club from his son Shinobi.
