One day the X-Men die and Storm is buried alive with all the corpses.
Prior to said catastrophic event, residing at the Xavier Institute, Storm recieves a desperate message from her beloved Ainet in the form of an animated statuette made of sand. Her first thought is to deal with the situation on her own, but the rest of the X-Men insist on assisting her on whatever problem they may be facing.
Wolverine and Psylocke are attacked midair as soon as the group of X-Men teleport to Storm's home village in Kenya. The assassins turn to sand when defeated.
The villagers are discovered to be under the mind control of Ananasi, a self proclaimed god who Storm is offered to marry. Ananasi exerts his mind control over the X-Men one by one until only Storm and Psylocke remain free. They defeat who they think is the source of the mind control, a village telepath, only to find the source runs deeper into the Psionic Plane. Psylocke confronts her mysterious assailant with all her might and strikes into a single focused blow which in turn triggers a trap with so much psionic feedback that it is felt by every mind on Earth, especially those with telepathic and intuitive abilities.
