Jazz musician Jack Boniface is drawn to a woman frequenting the club where he performs. Gathering his strength, Jack approaches the woman, who introduces herself as Lydia. Seducing Jack, Lydia brings Jack to her home where she attempts to attack him, only to be frightened by a battle outside her window. In the morning, Jack awakes to find Lydia gone, but an attic full of corpses. Disgusted, Jack takes to the streets where he finds a Mardi Gras mask. Jack then stumbles across a cannibal dressed as a shaman when Jack makes the decision to put on the mask and become Shadowman!

Valiant Masters Shadowman (2013) HC vol. 01

A scene in the jazz club features another musician named "Dickey" who references being in a band with "Gregg". Presumably, "Dickey" is intended to be Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers Band.
