Letters Column: Mutant Mail

Professor X cries out in pain and collapses. Lilandra rushes to comfort him and learns that he can stand but can not walk.

The New Mutants spend a day at the fair away from the dangers they’ve been facing. They are particularly excited about the motorcycle exhibition put on my members of Team America. They even get to meet the riders, but two teams run into problems as Lobo and Sunspot exchange heated words.

Armed mercenary ambush Team America near the end of their act. Viper coordinates the strike in an effort to draw out the Dark Rider, the motorcycle team’s mysterious guardian angel. The New Mutants spring into action followed by the Dark Rider, but the Silver Samurai keeps the edge with the attackers and captures the masked motorcyclist -- none other than Danielle Moonstar! The villains teleport to safety with their quarry in-hand.

Viper tests Psyche and learns that the New Mutant could not possibly be the Dark Rider. Rather than use an untrained teenager as a pawn, the femme fatale decides to black mail Team America into doing her bidding. They must retrieve a powerful crystal from an A.I.M. compound in Mexico or Danielle Moonstar dies.

Colonel Rossi joins Professor Xavier in an analysis of Team America’s relationship to the Dark Rider. They deduce that the individual members form a mutant gestalt creating a guardian angel which possesses a nearby body when danger threatens human life. Charles offers to help the motorcyclists with their power and their mission.

The New Mutants feel angry by Professor Xavier’s decision. He would rather help Team America than directly rescue Psych, so they decide to liberate their teammate with or without their teacher’s help.
