As Magma and Sunspot are forced to fight Shadowcat, Dazzler continues to sing an enchanting song to keep the crowd at the coliseum entranced. When Magma and Sunspot are finally able to break the hold over Shadowcat, they set out to learn the identity of the Gladiators' mastermind. When they learn that it is Karma, the long thought dead original member of the New Mutants, their first question is why would Professor X lie to them about her death? Seeking the truth, they set out on a quest to locate their lost ally who is now an enemy.
