The Elemental War

Naiad and Red Tornado destroy the small city of Nohana, Japan, and then set their sights on Tokyo.

Martin Stein finds Simon LaGrieve and gets him to the hospital in time to save his life.

While apparently drowning, Firestorm has a vision of Maya, the spirit of the Earth, who tells him that the Elementals were all created to spur humanity to leave the planet rather than continue to damage their mother. She also informs him that Red Tornado was born the human son of T.O. Morrow before his spirit was put into an android body.

Swamp Thing saves Firestorm and insists that he fly to East Africa, where Firestorm had terraformed a new Eden. He demands that Firestorm forswear his transmuting power because his changes make the plants unstable at the cellular level. At Swamp Thing's request, Firestorm razes the entire area before the two proceed to Japan to confront Naiad and Red Tornado.
