Synopsis:
In an undefined city's abandoned subway tunnels, three lesbians find themselves transformed by the toxins that have washed themselves down society's drains. Swizzle becomes super-strong, but cannot always use her strength judiciously. She tends to kill a lot of innocent bystanders in her pursuit of justice. Luckily, Liver, her girlfriend, has gained the power of re-animation, so she can usually "rescue" the innocents her girlfriend has accidentally victimized--if, that, is she can keep her steady diet of toxins (usually taken in the form of alcohol and nicotine) going. The third member of the team--the threesome, really--is Byte, whose brain power has been increased so much that she's gone bald. Completely bald.

This novel shows their origin and first case, in which the city's youngsters are disappearing, apparently down the sewers. The troika become the police chief's main suspects for the crimes, even as they're trying to catch the real culprit.

With a set-up like this, the story can only be at once noir, pulpy, and bitingly satirical.

Notes:
Very possibly the world's first all-lesbian super-group.
