An alien spaceship crashes during 1999 while Earth is in a global conflict. Realizing that the alien ship contains great technology, and was built to house giant-sized aliens, Earth's various governments created the United Earth Government, and a Robotech Armed Force, or Robotech Defensive Force, based on the alien technology. On the day of the official launching in 2009 of the SDF-1 battle fortress on Macross Island, Zentraedi forces arrive, hoping to retrieve their lost ship. Visiting pilot Rick Hunter is caught up in the attack, and gets a first-hand look at the alien warships, and Earth's robotechnology.

Adapted by Markalan Joplin. Page 9 has an editorial comment at the bottom of the page that says, "Blink!"
