Commemorating the sixtieth anniversary of the end of World War II in 2005, Memories & Echoes collects ten stories about the war, ranging from dramatic to biographical to comic relief. By remembering the past, we can affect the future and work toward a better world.
To pursue this goal, this anthology supports War Child Netherlands, a non-profit organization helping children who have lived through war to cope with their experiences and ensure their healthy mental development.

Synopsis: The Nazi regime before the war, Communists in power after. For East Germans, it was out of the frying pan into the fire. Starting a few weeks before the outbreak of the war and ending a year after Germany's capitulation, this is a tale of petty power abuse that marked roughly two decades under two totalitarian regimes.
