Notes
|
|
Notable for a number of reasons. This is the first American comic book appearance of James Bond. It's a relatively rare example of a British comic being reprinted in a fairly high-profile American comic (it originally was published in Classics Illustrated (UK) #158A, then Detective (European Edition) #6, before finding its way to Showcase. It may be one of the earliest, if not the first, comics to be censored on racial grounds (some skin tones and dialogue were changed for the American market). It's also DC's first Silver Age screen adaptation. (Despite the lines "by Ian Fleming" and "from the novel" on the cover, it is a close adaptation of the film.)
