Supergirl merges with Linda Danvers in flashback in this story, and thus the two end up being one. However as they have led separate lives up until that point the chronological listings of both characters before this issue will be listed separately. Part of the protoplasmic material of the original Supergirl matrix isn't included in the new Supergirl matrix and becomes an entity of its own which shows up again in issue #26.Also serves as the introduction of the initial 9-issue story arc which eventually leads the Matrix/Linda Danvers entity to the rediscovery of self as an "earth-born-angel".
