2009-12-30 13:53:08 scottandrewhutchins Synopsis After awakening from the tranquilizer helmet, Shade is accused of having murdered Dr. Miraco, creator of the Miraco-Vest (formerly referred to as M-Vest). Shade is imprisoned, but the tribunal doesn't alter Shade's death sentence, and Colonel Kross is ordered to carry it out. The mebers of the tribunal are shocked at Kross's apparent emotionlessness. Kross wonders if Shade is really guilty, but supports the death penalty for treason. Dr. Sagan reveals to Mellu a vieo that he took of Shade saving her live, but isn't sure if Shade did so out of guilt and recompense or out of innocence and love. Kross puts Shade in prison to await execution, but, though they have removed all his othetr clothing, their scientists feel that it is unsafe to remove Shade from his vest. Agents Loron and Barak now try to break shade out of prison, as does Sude, as does a third individual, but Shade uses the M-Vest to escape on his own, but is captured by Sude's agents using knockout gas. Colonel Lopak, the most ruthless officer in the Security Service, places Kross under house arrest over Shade's escape. Ultimately, Shade is brought face-to face with Sude. Sude's identity is revealed to the reader, but not to Shade. Sude gives Shade the choice to either join with him or be destroyed.
