review - angeltread
Book Review: So this is the relaunch of the Fantastic Four. everything is still in continutity but they are just giving this a new shiny #1 so they can sell alot more issues than normal. they did this before back in the late 90’s. i gaurentee the next milestone issue of 700… they will revert back to the old numbering just like they did prior. anyway. this issue. nothing feels too different. just like its the setup of a new story arc. knowing new writer matt fraction though… were probably in for something at least decent. there is a seed of a interesting idea that i wont spoil. artwise returns one of my favs to Fantastic Four is Mark Bagely. Bags is a legendary artist that has doen so many comics (so many that i own too) i knew just exactly what to expect and there was nothing wrong with that at all. i have always loved his style and although it seems there is always a few wonky figures, faces or panels here and there. its always a little tiny percentage i just forgive and move on.
Book Grade: B
Cover Review: take the four. put them in a “hero” pose. presto. you got a fantastic four cover. sorta sucks they didnt go for anything more inventive than that. but i dont hate this cover. its well drawn and well colored. what i do hate though is the Marvel Now! and red bar cutting off a good 1/10 of the cover. i thinks it and its tagline are ugly and intrusive. if they would have got rid of it… and thrown the barcode on the back cover i feel the design of this cover would have been a nice package but unfortunatly nope. oh well.
