A day that changed comics... - Liam Sharp
Anybody reading 2000ad when this issue hit the stands will remember it - Biz. Horned God. 'Nuff said. I had been working my proverbial bum off to make my newest Dredd, featuring P.J.Maybe, the best I'd ever done. One that would get remembered, and talked about. One that would move me up a notch in the comic hierarchy. I bought the issue and almost wept - Simon's work was everything I wanted to do, everything I'd wanted to be as an artist. It mixed Frazetta, Corben, Giger - so many of my heroes - together, and came out as something entirely new. That happens so very very rarely, maybe once a decade. A comic master was born, and my black and white Dredd, the best I'd ever done, paled into the background before it. A very bitter-sweet day, but one I'll never forget. Inspiring and depressing in equal measure!
