Barney Miller   (1975)
Search for 'Barney Miller' on eBay

Publisher: Gold Key

Publication Date: 1975

Country: United States

Language: English

Notes:
Very little is known about this extremely rare comic book.

Even the date of publication is speculative. However, the absence of detective Arthur Dietrich, combined with the presence of Fish, makes the most likely time of publication sometime in 1975, likely in the summer break between the first and second seasons. (Miller was a mid-season replacement in 1974-75, and therefore debuted in January 1975).

The photograph on the front cover further helps to narrow down the date. It is known to come from a season 2 publicity shot, and truncates actor Jack Woo, who was to the extreme right in the original still. (Very nearly the same shot, with the actors in exactly the same clothing, adorns the Season 2 DVD cover.)

Despite these clues, there is the possibility that the comic was issued in the first half of 1976, because Detective Dietrich did not debut as a full cast member until the fall of 1976.
