Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1993) #3 continues to The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (1994) #1
As you might imagine, anything to do with Douglas Adams is a little paradoxical and slightly hard to quantify. The comic adaptation of his trilogy-that-wasn't-a-trilogy is no different.
It should be observed for the uninitiated that the term "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (abbreviated by fans as "H2G2") refers both to the first novel in the series, and to the series itself.
For long term fans, it should be noted that DC's adaptation is only of the first three books of the "trilogy". It is also claimed that the story is an adaptation of the novels, but, as with all things H2G2, it represents yet another continuity. Each time H2G2 appears in a different medium, it has a way of picking up distinctive properties that even the most uncritical of eyes would have to classify as "significantly different".
DC's take involved forgoing the traditional issue format, and instead split each book up into three prestige-format, squarebound volumes. In all, then, 9 separate volumes were created, with a 10th being the collection of the first three books, which together comprised the adaptation of the first novel of the trilogy.
