The Comic Reader   (1961)
Search for 'The Comic Reader' on eBay

Publisher: Street Enterprises

Publication Date: 1961 - September 1984

Country: United States

Language: English

Notes:
The Comic Reader was one of, if not the first comic book fanzine. Published originally by Paul Levitz in 1961, the layout was a couple of mimeographed, text only pages. With issue # 101, the Reader was purchased by Street Publications and the format was changed to digest-sized with color covers. With #164 TCR was expanded to comic book sized, with extended art work and selected color pages. The inclusion of reprints of Street owned comic dailies were added. These titles included Superman, The Seekers, Archie Goodwin's Star Hawks, Paul Temple, and more. Other features included a monthly new releases checklist, letters, editorials, comic book news, in depth articles, and artwork by both published professionals and amateurs.

Number of issues cataloged: 56
