This series, also known as Perry - Unser Mann im All follows the short-lived Perry Rhodan im Bild and was the second attempt of launching a series based on the popular pulp novel series.
The first 36 issues were rather generic scifi entertainment but starting with issue #37 the series was handeld by a different studio which kicked the "cheesecake and acid factor" into overdrive and being very daring in terms of nudity.
The series was canceled on a cliffhanger in 1975 with issue #129.
This cliffhanger was finally resolved in 2006 when new publisher Alligatorfarm aquired the license and continued the series which doesn't take itself very serious and has barely anything to do with the characters as they are portrayed in the novels.
The Sammelband volumes are collected editions but not in the traditional sense of being a tradepaperback. They are no new printings but 2-3 copies of unsold issues bound together that were sent back into distribution (often more than once as there are copies with stickers stating the updated price as they went back on the newsstand for the second or third time).
