Super-Team Family   (1975)
Search for 'Super-Team Family' on eBay

Publisher: DC Comics

Publication Date: Oct/Nov 1975 - Mar/Apr 1978

Country: United States

Language: English

Notes:
Though short-lived, this title is considered one of DC's better "reprint" titles of the 1970s. A part of this prestige may come from the fact that the stories chosen for reprint were generally "important" stories on their first printing, yet were not reprinted elsewhere ever again.

Another reason that the title is held in high regard is that it wasn't exclusively a reprint title. There is some significant original material sprinkled throughout. Indeed, given the trend of the last few issues, it was transiting to an entirely original title in its final issues.

In the parlance of 1970's DC titles, the word "family" universally meant "this book contains mostly reprints, and has a higher page count than our normal books". When Super-Team started to print only original work it really was no longer a "family" title. But because DC liked the work of those last few issues, and saw the financial advantage of lowering the page count, they opted to go for a new title, rather than to redefine the nature of the "family" books. Thus, after issue #15, Super-Team Family was merely replaced with the standard-sized, mostly original DC Comics Presents.
